Matt Risinger is showing us just how airtight a new home is. Risinger bring in Sean from Positive Energy to perform a blower door test. A blower door is basically a fan with calibrated plates on it. The duo use it to determine how much is coming through the fan. After, we'll learn how to depressurize the house to 250 Pascals. This will generate a mockup of 20-mph winds on each side of the house. By using a monometer, they can get a read on how much air is moving through the fan. Risinger and Sean review how monometers work and then conduct a sample on Risinger's build. This test has become a must based upon the builder's code and this video can teach you how to perform the Blower Door Test to ensure you have the proper air tightness on your home build.
